Growers, a Durham, NC–based multi-vendor eCommerce marketplace, struggled to unify farmers and retailers under one efficient platform. Their existing PWA lacked key mobile functionalities and advanced AWS integrations crucial for real-time bidding, streamlined supply chains, and data-driven decision-making. The organization sought a high-performance environment that could handle scale, deliver accurate analytics, and offer easy accessibility across devices. Meeting these demands required leveraging serverless architecture and robust infrastructure-as-code practices. Further, Growers needed integrated security measures to protect sensitive financial data and maintain trust. Determined to remain competitive, they turned to Successive Digital for a flexible yet future-proof solution.

The Solution
Successive Digital collaborated with Growers to design a comprehensive mobile application that unified diverse users—from small-scale farmers to major agricultural enterprises—in a singular environment. We extended Growers’ AWS ecosystem by incorporating Terraform for infrastructure-as-code, AWS ECS (Fargate) for scalable container deployments, and essential serverless components such as AWS Lambda, Amazon EventBridge, Amazon DynamoDB, and PostgreSQL on RDS. This approach accelerated deployment cycles, ensuring minimal overhead in provisioning and updates. A pay-as-you-go compute model reduced costs while AWS WAF enhanced platform security. The final solution delivered an accessible bid management system, data-driven analytics, and an intuitive interface to elevate productivity and profitability across the agricultural supply chain.

Deploying compute with AWS Fargate and container orchestration via ECS minimized server oversight. Autoscaling features aligned resource usage with demand, eliminating overprovisioning. By integrating EventBridge and Lambda, the system automates workflows, ensuring timely responses to transaction events, data queries, and dynamic analytics with minimal manual intervention.
- Infrastructure as Code
Leveraging Terraform made environment setup and teardown efficient, transparent, and repeatable. Infrastructure changes were version-controlled, reducing inconsistencies and human error. This approach harmonized AWS services with Growers’ evolving needs, ensuring that updates to the platform—such as new user profiles or extended bidding logic—rolled out with minimal disruption.
